Ms. Maines joined Success Academy in 2017 as the school counselor at SA High School of the Liberal Arts – Manhattan. She transitioned to serving on the leadership team at SA Harlem East and was the founding principal at SA Hollis Middle School (now SA Ozone Park Middle School). In 2021, she took up the same mantle at SA Hudson Yards. Before joining SA, Ms. Maines taught ELA for five years in the Greater Boston area. Ms. Maines holds bachelor’s degrees in English and journalism from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and a master’s in applied psychology from New York University. Ms. Maines is committed to building a school community that empowers and supports scholars and teachers. In her free time, she loves to run, travel, and spend time with her dog Ruby.
Mr. Hanson started at SA in 2020 as an assistant principal at SA Bed-Stuy Middle School, moved to SA Midtown West Middle School in 2021, and currently serves as assistant principal at SA Hudson Yards Middle School. A graduate of Duke University, he holds a B.A. in Public Policy and a Master’s Degree in Education from Southern Methodist University. Prior to joining SA, Mr. Hanson was a Teach for America corps member in Dallas, Texas where he taught middle school English and coached soccer for four years. Mr. Hanson has passion for middle school education specifically, due to its vital role in kids’ educational and social-emotional trajectory. On weekends, you can find him running, playing soccer or piano, and enjoying quality time with his friends and family.
